Secondary school girls in Cameroon during a Mavena menstrual-health education session

Menstrual Health & Women's Wellness Initiative

Empowering girls through menstrual health, dignity, and education.

Mavena Health Initiative works with schools and communities in Cameroon to expand menstrual-health education, reduce stigma, and improve access to sanitary products for girls and women.

About us

We are building a practical menstrual-health model for schools and communities.

Mavena Health Initiative is a Cameroon-based nonprofit focused on menstrual health education, hygiene access, adolescent reproductive-health awareness, and women's wellness.

Our work began through grassroots outreach to schools and communities, supporting girls with sanitary products and clear health education. Today, Mavena is growing into a structured public-health initiative designed to reach more students, families, and local partners.

Our mission

To eliminate stigma surrounding menstrual health, increase access to sanitary products, and advance women's health education across communities in Cameroon.

Our programs

What we do

Six connected programs that bring education, products, and community support to the girls who need them most.

Education

School Education & Outreach

We visit schools to deliver age-appropriate puberty and menstrual-health education. These sessions help girls understand their bodies and help boys reduce stigma.

Access

Sanitary Product Distribution

We distribute sanitary pads and reusable menstrual products to girls and women in underserved communities, reducing barriers to school attendance and daily life.

Awareness

Stigma-Breaking Campaigns

Through community dialogues, awareness campaigns, and outreach, we open conversations about periods and women's health to break silence and shame.

Wellness

Women's Wellness Education

We provide clear education around puberty, reproductive health, cycle awareness, PCOS, hygiene, and wellness from adolescence through womanhood.

Partnership

Community Partnerships

We collaborate with schools, nurses, teachers, local leaders, families, and organizations to build lasting support systems around girls' health.

Research

Research & Advocacy

We collect outreach data, track program outcomes, and develop evidence-informed recommendations that can support future school and public-health programs.
